In a letter to his supporters and volunteers on his campaign, Robin Ficker wrote:
"I want to thank all of you for volunteering your time recently in making our voice heard in Montgomery County. We were able to reach people we wouldn't normally reach because of your hard work and dedication in making calls and knocking on doors. I personally met great people and I look forward to working with you again as we gear up for local and state campaigns in the coming months. You are all truly the best."
Mark Uncapher, chairman of the Montgomery county Republican Party had this to say:
"Despite his setback, I expect Robin Ficker to continue to fight on as the 'Montgomery County Anti-Tax Increase Energizer bunny.' The County Council faces hard choices now that the real estate bubble is no longer hiding the fact that County government has been growing the county budget far faster than residents' incomes."
Uncapher noted that the Republican vote grew by over a third compared with last year's special election and that as a result of an active Republican absentee ballot effort, candidate Ficker had won a majority of the absentee ballots cast.
